I was so happy when this sweet family reached out to schedule an older newborn session for their baby girls, Anya and Meera. After spending some time in the NICU, the family finally settled in at home and were ready to capture portraits once the twins were about three months old. It was such a joy to meet them and celebrate this special chapter together.
I truly adore older newborn sessions. While traditional newborn portraits are typically taken within the first two-three weeks, sessions with older babies are special in their own way. By three months, babies are more alert and expressive, with their sparkling eyes open and alert, and personalities starting to emerge. These sessions naturally focus more on connection, capturing family snuggles and sweet smiles and expressions.
Older Newborn Portraits for a Sweet Baby Girl
Getting to do this session with twins was such a treat! Watching Anya and Meera together was simply heartwarming. I loved their simple, classic tan sweater onesies and headbands. You could tell they found comfort in being close. Then, watching their big brother, Kiran, snuggle up to his sisters completely melted everyone’s hearts. He was so gentle and proud. I can already tell he is the best big brother! These little girls will be in good hands with him as a big brother! Alongside twin newborn photos, and sibling photos, we also made sure to capture plenty of family portraits during our beautiful morning together.
Older newborn sessions are a wonderful option for families who need a little more time before scheduling portraits. Whether it’s because of an extended hospital stay, recovery, or simply adjusting to life with a new baby (or two!), it’s never too late to capture these early memories. These portraits beautifully reflect your family’s connection and your baby’s growing personality, which is just as precious as those sleepy early newborn moments.
Congratulations to this wonderful family on their beautiful twins! It was such a joy to photograph your growing family and document this milestone for you.
