These Family Portraits in Schenectady Rose Garden was my last session of the year. Ending the year with this sweet family and in such a beautiful location was the icing on the cake of an amazing year. The Central Park Rose Garden in Schenectady is an ideal place for family portraits. In fact, just one year before, we met at this very same garden to capture this family’s maternity portrait session when they were expecting their baby girl, Aarya. Now here we are celebrating Aarya’s first birthday with some family portraits back in the same gorgeous location!

Family Portraits and First Year Milestone Portraits in Schenectady Rose Garden

With Aarya turning one it was the perfect time to get together to capture some updated family portraits, as well as a couple solo portraits of Aarya. She looked absolutely adorable in her dress and headband! Some of my favorite portraits of the day were the mommy and me portraits with all the colorful blooms in the background. The entire family wore light, neutral clothes which was absolutely perfect for the rose garden, as it allowed them to stand out in the green of the grass, while still allowing all the beautiful pink flowers in the background to pop.

Aarya’s big brother, Aadvik joined in on the fun too. The garden provided lots of room for him to run and explore. He also loved finding the different rose petals that had fallen in the grass and collecting them. I love allowing kids to just be kids during portrait sessions!
