This playful family portrait session at Central Park Rose Garden in Schenectady was such a dream. Not only is the rose garden one of my favorite locations for family portraits, but I absolutely adore this family. I’ve had the privilege of photographing them every year since their son, Johnny, was born. It has been so special to watch their sweet boy grow and document their milestones year after year. This is one of the greatest gifts of photography – preserving a family’s story each year.
Each time I photograph this family, they always have the most beautiful outfits, and this year was no exception. Kristen’s light pink dress was perfect for the rose garden. I loved the flow and movement of her dress in the walking portraits, as well as the way it draped gently during the snuggly portraits with her sweet boy. The boys coordinated in tan pants and light blue shirts creating a timeless and classic look. They all looked so good and the added colors from the blooming flowers surrounding them was just icing on the cake!
The Central Park Rose Garden is one of my favorite go-to locations for family portraits from June through October. With over 100 rose varieties and 2,000 bushes there is no shortage of beautiful scenery. I adore the depth we can create with layers of rose bushes. I’m already looking forward to many more sessions at the rose garden in 2026 and I’m so grateful for families like this one who trust me to document their memories year after year.
