One of the questions I hear most often from my clients is, “Why do you love photographing newborns and babies so much?” During sessions in my Saratoga Springs studio, parents often notice the many baby portraits on the walls, the shelves filled with props and accessories, and the care I take in posing and soothing little ones. The truth is, this work is more than just photography for me. It’s a lifelong love.
As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been drawn to babies. As a child, I was the first one to ask, “Can I hold the baby?” whenever there was one in the room. I was enchanted by their toothless grins, tiny toes, and soft snuggles. That same awe is something I now see in my own daughter. When she held her first newborn at just two years old, she exclaimed that it was “a living doll!”, and honestly, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
As a teenager, I spent hours upon hours babysitting and working in a daycare. Later, I went on to major in Elementary Education and spent nearly a decade working with first graders. I have always loved connecting with little ones, helping them learn, and celebrating their milestones. It felt natural that when I picked up a camera, my lens gravitated toward babies.

I still remember my very first newborn photography session back in 2012. That experience was magical and one I’ll never forget. I was mesmerized as I watched this brand-new baby curl up, yawn, and sleep peacefully in their parents’ arms. Soon after, I discovered the joy of milestone sessions and cake smashes. The finger dimples, gummy smiles, chubby toes, budding personalities – every stage of babyhood has its own beauty, and I love documenting each one.
Over the years, I’ve photographed countless newborns and babies here in Saratoga Springs, and every single session feels like a gift. Parents invite me into their lives during one of the most tender and fleeting seasons. To be trusted with capturing those memories is an honor I’ll never take lightly.
What I love most is that these sessions aren’t just about the portraits, rather they’re about connection. Newborn sessions are often some of the first outings families make after bringing their baby home. I see the awe in parents’ eyes as they watch their little one, and I do my best to guide them through the experience with encouragement and care. Sometimes new parents need a little reassurance in those early, sleep-deprived days, and I love being a calming presence for them while we create beautiful images together.
Then, there are milestone sessions! The giggles, the crawling, the clapping, the proud little smiles when a baby takes their first steps – it’s all so amazing and photographing these moments brings me so much joy. Watching babies grow up in front of my camera and being part of a family’s story year after year is one of the most rewarding parts of this work. It means the world to me to be invited back into families’ lives to document their precious life moments.

To this day, photographing babies in Saratoga Springs never feels routine. Every newborn and baby has their own little personality and every family brings a unique story. Whether I’m capturing a sleepy newborn curled up in my studio or a one-year-old gleefully smashing their birthday cake, I’m reminded of why I started this journey in the first place: the love I’ve always had for babies and the joy of preserving these fleeting moments for families.
Being a newborn and baby photographer is so much more than taking pictures. It’s about celebrating life’s most precious milestones and creating heirlooms that families will treasure forever. Knowing that my work will hang on the walls of your family home for years to come and allow you to relive some of your favorite memories is why I do this work. I am incredibly grateful to capture families’ stories, and even more grateful to do it here in the beautiful community of Saratoga Springs.
