I had the most fun celebrating Everleigh’s fifth birthday with a colorful confetti portrait session in my Saratoga Springs studio! I think it’s safe to say she had just as much fun. From the moment we opened the confetti, her face lit up with pure joy. I captured the happiest bursts of personality along the way as she threw handfuls of confetti in the air while she laughed and twirled. For weeks afterward, I kept finding stray pieces of confetti around the studio. It was absolutely worth it for such a playful and whimsical experience for the birthday girl.

One of the things I loved most about this confetti portrait session was how perfectly it reflected Everleigh’s personality at this age. At 5 years old, she is vibrant and full of energy. These portraits captured her spirit beautifully. Whether she was twirling through a shower of confetti or striking her own little poses, she shined! I loved getting to celebrate her and this sweet milestone.

Milestone sessions like this are truly some of my favorites. Most people think of milestone portraits as something reserved for the baby’s first year, as it is commonplace to schedule milestone portraits every few months to capture their first smile, sitting up, taking their first steps and just to document all the growth that occurs that first year. And while those sessions are so important, milestones don’t stop after the first birthday, nor should the portraits! Children continue to change so much from year to year, and having professional portraits taken along the way is a wonderful way to preserve those memories.

Yearly Milestone Sessions for Older Children

Yearly birthday sessions are the perfect tradition to celebrate your child as they grow. Whether it’s a confetti toss, a balloon-filled studio, or a simple and timeless setup, these sessions not only mark the occasion but also give your child a chance to express themselves and have fun. Not to mention, you’ll have galleries of images to treasure long after the candles have been blown out.
