Maeve’s first birthday session was truly timeless and beautiful! Her soft white cake smash in Saratoga Springs has quickly become one of my favorite sessions this year. I always love when families choose simple, classic setups. There’s something so sweet about keeping the focus on your baby and their emerging personality.

For Maeve’s portraits, we enhanced my all-white studio setup with a white balloon garland, glowing “ONE” letters, and soft natural light that made the whole space feel airy and bright. It’s incredible how these simple details pulled everything together. This minimal setup allowed Maeve to shine as the star of the show, and she did just that!

Beautiful Soft White Cake Smash in Saratoga Springs

Maeve lit up the room with her smile, wearing a sweet little romper from Rylee + Cru. The feathers on the shoulder lent such an airy, whimsical touch that went perfectly with our soft white setup. At first, she wasn’t quite sure what to make of her cake, but once she decided to dive in, there was no stopping her. One of the funniest moments was when Maeve knocked the cake off its stand. That instantly became her favorite part of the smash and from that point on, it was nothing but smiles.

We ended the session with a bathtub splash, which Maeve absolutely adored. My favorite image from the day, and one of my top five all-time bathtub portraits, is of her leaning over the edge of the tub with the biggest smile and the sweetest expression. It’s one of those photographs that communicates pure joy every time you look at it.

I truly adored everything about Maeve’s first birthday session. The simple, timeless styling paired with her joyful personality created the perfect set of portraits. First birthday sessions are always a favorite of mine to capture. There’s nothing better than documenting these milestone moments while listening to the sweet giggles that fill the studio.
