I loved everything about these cozy family portraits with Reagan and her parents. Reagan had just turned one and was stepping into that wonderful stage of toddlerhood. She is curious, expressive, and full of personality. Throughout the session she was spunky and smiley. I loved how she kept happily waving hello!
One of my favorite details was her outfit. Reagan wore the same style romper she had worn for her newborn portraits, and it was perfect. These little details make milestone sessions even more meaningful.
Her mom borrowed one of the new Worth Collective gowns from the studio’s Mama Wardrobe, which photographed beautifully in the soft natural light of their home. The simple, neutral outfits kept the focus on their connection as a family and the love they share.
This year I’m leaning more into a more intimate style of in-home portraits, and I’m excited to offer lifestyle sessions for all of our families – not just newborns! Lifestyle sessions are relaxed, natural, and centered around real moments together. During the session, we focus on moments of connection, such as your family snuggling on the couch, playing on the bed, reading books together, or simply holding your little one close. Your home becomes the backdrop, filled with the light and spaces that already mean so much to your family. Not only that, but soon these family portraits will decorate the walls of your home, adding to the joy that already fills your home.
For toddlers especially, being at home helps them feel comfortable and free to be themselves. They can explore their own space, show off their favorite toys, move naturally throughout the session or take a break if needed. This creates portraits that feel genuine and joyful while also reflecting your family during this season of life.
When I photograph families, whether at home or in my studio, my goal is always to keep the experience easy and relaxed. During in-home lifestyle sessions, I’ll guide you gently with prompts and suggestions while leaving plenty of space for real interactions to unfold. For toddlers like Reagan, there is often lots of laughter, movement, and a little bit of exploring along the way. It is also important to remember that you don’t need a perfectly styled home or elaborate outfits. Simple clothing, natural light, and your family just being together are all we need to create beautiful portraits.
