In 2025, these are some of the props and setups that are most-loved (and most-selected!) by our newborn clients. I love knowing these carefully selected props and setups are now gracing the walls and homes of so many of my clients. They were curated for my studio specifically to create timeless portraits your family will love!
When you come to the studio for your session, we will have discussed colors and setups ahead of time. But you’ll get to “go shopping” in the studio for anything that catches your eye. Some families love picking out baskets and wraps, headbands and hats. However, I’ve noticed that many also leave that to the expert. They trust me to bring my vision to life in a beautiful and classic way that keeps their baby at the focus of their portraits. No matter what, we’re going to create heirloom artwork that will be cherished for years to come!
I love that this works for both boys and girls. We can add flowers for a feminine touch, soft layers to snuggle your baby, plus it’s the cutest with a toddler sibling giving the stroller a little push! I have had many clients use this prop again at a milestone session to capture baby sitting up in it, or to show siblings’ growth with both of them in the portraits again at future sessions!
Another client favorite, this one is chosen for almost every newborn session! The soft curves are beautiful and we can add any layers and colors to the bed. It’s adorable for sibling portraits with big brother or sister leaning in, and it makes a great little seat for milestone portraits later on when baby is sitting unassisted.
Teddy bears and bunnies have never been cuter than when snuggled up with a newborn baby just a few weeks old!
There is nothing more timeless than a photography setup that truly blends into the background and lets your baby shine. These will never go out of style, and I’ll never tire of the beauty of these minimalistic setups.
Of all of our bed & cradle styles (currently we have 5!), this is another one that is most-selected for newborn portraits. Families love the contrast against our white floors, and it pairs beautifully with blues, grays, and neutrals.
Another favorite prop, this one I love with layers and a sweet little baby inside! We put weights in the bottom of the basket to balance out your baby’s weight (safety first, always!), and then add a variety of wraps and hand-knit layers for texture. I also enjoy incorporating flowers around the basket for an extra delicate touch!
Simple setups allow your portraits to focus on your new baby and your family, which is why I love these classic props! Which will you be using for your session?
