There are few things that make me happier than watching the babies I photograph grow into confident, sweet little kids. I’ve been photographing Colton since he was a newborn, and it was such a treat to welcome him back to the studio to celebrate his fifth birthday with an extra special Little Loves portrait session. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of documenting so many milestones for him and his family. Seeing him back in the studio for this milestone was a beautiful reminder of just how quickly childhood passes. It has been such an honor and joy watching Colton grow and change over the years. He arrived at the studio full of confidence, smiles, and some impressive dance moves! Colton’s smiles lit up the room and I loved how his personality shined! I’m so grateful we were able to capture these timeless studio portraits in my Saratoga Springs studio.
Five years old feels like such a significant milestone, for both you and your child. Not only is it a super fun age, but it is a turning point. At five, they are no longer a toddler or little kid, but are reaching big kid status as they prepare to start school soon. They’re gaining more and more independence, and developing their own interests. As with most stages during the early years, kids are constantly changing as they grow. Five year old portraits are perfect because we can capture your child before they lose their first teeth, and when their cheeks still have a bit of that toddler roundness. Before long, they’ll look older, taller, and more mature. These portraits freeze this fleeting stage in time before it slips away.
The beauty of our Little Loves portrait sessions is their simplicity. Using a classic studio backdrop allows the focus to remain entirely on your little one. There’s nothing distracting from those sweet smiles, silly giggles, or fun personality. These timeless portraits will look just as beautiful years from now as they do today.
I love that so many families come to me for their newborn session, fall in love with the experience, and return to me year after year with their little ones. It is such a privilege to work with the most amazing families year after year, and I never take that or this job for granted.
I still remember meeting Colton as a newborn, and now here he is at five years old, full of joy, confidence, and charm.
Happy 5th birthday, Colton!
