There is something magical about golden maternity portraits, especially when we find a quiet little corner of Saratoga Springs with beautiful light and plenty of room to explore. This beautiful field is one of my favorite hidden gems for outdoor portraits, especially at sunset. In the evenings, the sunlight filters through the trees and creates the most gorgeous sun-dappled light. It feels like a little private escape tucked away from the busyness of everyday life.
There is plenty of space for little ones to run, play, and explore, making it especially wonderful for maternity portraits with toddlers and young children. Letting kids be kids makes for the best candid photos. Rather than asking them to sit still and smile, we can walk, explore, play games, snuggle with mama, and let them burn off some of that energy.
The light was absolutely dreamy for this Saratoga Springs maternity session. I loved this gorgeous lace dress mom brought from home, but what I really loved was how it glowed when backlit by the sun coming in through the trees. She brought this beautiful gown from home, and it was absolutely perfect for the setting.
If choosing what to wear for your maternity portraits feels overwhelming, I’ve got you covered.
Our Mama Wardrobe includes a curated collection of beautiful, flattering maternity dresses that photograph beautifully. In my Mama Wardrobe you’ll find similar styles to this dress, with flowing fabrics and plenty of soft, neutral colors that work beautifully with both our studio and outdoor locations.
Having access to the Mama Wardrobe is one of my favorite perks of booking a portrait session with me because it takes one more thing off your to-do list. Instead of spending time searching for the perfect maternity dress, you can simply choose from pieces I’ve already selected with portraits in mind.
Our outdoor maternity portrait season here in New York is almost over. By October, the weather begins to change and our outdoor evenings come to an end. If you’re expecting a baby before the end of 2026 and would love outdoor, golden maternity portraits, now is the time to get your session on the calendar.
And if the timing or weather isn’t quite right for an outdoor session, our light and airy Saratoga Springs studio is always an option. We can create beautiful, intimate maternity portraits indoors with the same timeless, elegant feel.
