This sweet family I first met eight years ago as their photographer, and now they are dear family friends and our oldest boys have become the best of friends. Getting to photograph their family year after year and watch their children grow alongside my own has been such a gift. Their fall family portraits on Broadway in Saratoga Springs were especially meaningful for me. I loved spending a beautiful early morning together in one of my favorite places in town.
Fall portraits in Saratoga Springs are always some of my favorites to capture with the changing leaves, crisp mornings, and beautiful golden light. Photographing this family that I’ve known for so many years made it even better. Aiden and Nathan brought plenty of personality to their session, and I loved capturing the little moments between them and their parents.
Downtown Saratoga Springs is such a beautiful backdrop for family portraits, especially in the fall. However, all local Saratogians know how busy Broadway can get! That’s why I love photographing families downtown in the early morning. We start around 8 a.m., before the foot traffic really picks up and while the streets are still quiet and peaceful. It gives us a little more breathing room to explore, move around, and create beautiful portraits without navigating quite as many people.
Plus, as an added bonus your family portraits are done at the beginning of the day. Instead of spending an entire Saturday afternoon getting everyone dressed, rushing out the door, and trying to fit portraits into an already busy schedule, you can have your family photos finished first thing in the morning and still have the entire day, or weekend, ahead of you, allowing you to fill it with other fun activities and relaxation for your family.
If you’ve been thinking about updating your family portraits this fall, I would love to see you! I’m now booking fall portraits for peak foliage weekend on October 17, with October 18 as the rain date, for a limited number of mini sessions. These shorter sessions are quick, relaxed, and perfect if you’re looking for just a handful of updated family portraits for your walls or holiday cards.
Full-length Signature Sessions are also available on select fall weekends and weekdays for families who want more time to explore, play, and create a larger collection of portraits.
Whether we meet on Broadway, in one of Saratoga’s beautiful parks, or somewhere else that feels meaningful to your family, we will create gorgeous portraits that preserve this chapter of your family’s story.
