Some of my favorite sessions are the ones that allow me to look back and realize just how many seasons of a family’s life I have been fortunate enough to document. These beautiful First Communion portraits at Central Park Rose Garden captured an extra-special milestone.
I’ve been photographing sweet Rose since she was just a little baby learning to walk on the beaches of Cape Cod. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of seeing her family many times, both on Cape Cod and here at my Saratoga Springs studio. For this session, they made the trip from the city to meet me at one of my favorite rose gardens in the Capital Region for Rose’s First Communion portraits. I was absolutely delighted.
It is such an honor when families continue to trust me with their memories year after year. I get to watch their children grow, see their personalities develop, and document the milestones that matter most to their families. Sessions like this are a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do and extremely grateful for families like this one.
The Central Park Rose Garden in Schenectady was the perfect setting for these portraits. With rows and rows of blooming roses and flowers surrounding us, the garden provided the most beautiful backdrop. Rose absolutely loved her white First Communion dress, and I loved watching her spin and twirl around in her dress. Those playful portraits bring so much personality to portraits and keep the experience feeling fun and natural.
Rose also had beautiful accessories and details like a flower bouquet, pearl necklace, a small veil, and her rosary. She truly felt and looked like a princess, and you could tell she was so happy and full of confidence as she walked through the garden. She was the star of the show!
When you have been photographing a child since they were tiny, it is impossible not to feel a little sentimental watching them reach a milestone like their First Communion. I can still picture little Rose learning to walk on the sand during those early Cape Cod portraits. Now here she was, dressed in her beautiful First Communion gown, twirling through a rose garden and celebrating such an important moment in her childhood.
Thank you to all of the families who invite me back, year after year, to document their growing children and the milestones that make their family stories so special. It is truly an honor.
