Declan is another one of our Summer 2017 babies who came back for their cake smash this year, and I love looking back at his newborn portraits and seeing how much that tiny squish has grown!

His family is planning an “Up!” themed birthday party (like the movie), so a hot air balloon cake smash was the perfect way to complement that theme by using the same pastel colors from the balloons in the movie.   His mom found this aviator hat, and I am in love with it!  I’m going to have to find one for the studio because it is oh-so-adorable!

We had the most perfect cake decorated to look like a sky with puffy white clouds, and it matched the hot air balloon backdrop beautifully.  Plus, it was delicious and Declan definitely approved!

Though he did have the most adorable crying face at the end!

We finished his session with a bathtub splash, and I love the second photo below where he looks like he’s in an airplane ready to take flight.  That one is going to hang large in their home, and it’s such a fun memory from his first birthday session!
